Contemporary Craft & Design presents a new generation of independent practitioners exploring new and forgotten materials.
Interested in the physical manifestation of objects and their materiality, the selected works challenge conventional relationships between production, consumption and craftsmanship. Rather than following the traditional logic of form follows function, they become explorations of process, material and narrative, revealing alternative ways of thinking about the objects that surround us.
With a strong emphasis on texture and haptics, the project highlights the relationship between natural resources and human intervention. The direct and often unpolished translation of materials into objects creates an immediate dialogue between object and viewer.
